The Joy of Names w/Dr Richard Lederer!

The Friends of the Oceanside Public Library are pleased to welcome Dr. Richard Lederer to Oceanside for a presentation of his program titled “The Joy of Names” on October 26, 2019 at 2PM. The presentation will be in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms.

Almost everyone on earth has a name. In The Joy of Names, best-selling language author Richard Lederer reveals all you need to know about first names, baby names, last names, nicknames, cruel and unusual names, movie stars’ names, presidents’ names, eponymous names, names from myths, authors’ pseudonyms, and other fascinating facts about names.

Admission to the event is FREE for Friends Members, and just $5 for non-members.

The Holiday Home Tour Returns!

The Friends’ popular Holiday Home Tour event returns for 2018 with a walking tour of four adjacent oceanfront houses in Oceanside, CA. Tickets are $25 for Friends members, and $30 for the general public. Te event will feature an auction for a one week vacation in Sedona, AZ from May 25-June 1, 2019.

Rummage Sale- October 21

Run, don’t walk to the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library Rummage Sale!

The sale will take place 8 a.m to 2 p.m., October 21, at 602 Civic Center Drive, Oceanside, in the back courtyard.

Proceeds help support Library programs.

Donated goods are accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 17, 18, 19 at same address, alley back gate.

Watch Friends Guest Spot on Oceanside Spectrum

Friends of the Oceanside Public Library board president Arne Pearson and vice president Chris Wilson share the history of the non-profit and its efforts to support library programs and collections on Oceanside Spectrum.

The program airs on KOCT channel 18, Monday through Friday at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. through the month of August. Oceanside Spectrum can also be viewed online during on-air times at koct.org.

Wine, Chocolate and a Good Book

Join Friends of the Oceanside Public Library on August 26 for Wine, Chocolate and a Good Book.  The fundraiser promises to be the talked about event of the summer and includes ocean views, live entertainment, a guest author, and silent auction for three vacation packages.  Proceeds support upcoming library programs.  Wine, Chocolate and a Good Book takes place August 26, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  The location of the event is noted on tickets, which are available for $35 online at Eventbrite http://wcgb2017.eventbrite.com. A Big Thank You for Your Help in the Big BAM Fundraiser

A big thank you to new Friends who joined Friends of the Oceanside Public Library, and book and media buyers who made our March quarterly Big Book and Media Sale a success.

Over $2,000 was raised to enhance key library programs and special events.

Your generosity helped support Toddlertime Stories, Preschool Storytime, Cuentos Para Ninos and Mad Science programs.

Thanks to you, funds also strengthened Art Walk, Puppet Musical and Animal Magic special events, and Summer Reading programs.

We couldn’t do it without you Friend!
